Bernie – Morning Show Host – 6a-10a
I was born and raised in Emporia and I’m highly active in the community to this day. I graduated from EHS and Flint Hills Technical College. Inspired by my Radio and Television instructor, the late Al Higgins, I’m finally able to put the knowledge from that course to use at 97.7 The Dawg.
Lindzey – Mid-Days – 10a-2pm
Been in radio for over 13 years now. Born and raised in Chanute, KS but now live in Iola with my handsome husband and two adorable sons. No Pets. I love: music, concerts, weird tv shows like Dexter & Mad Men and even more disturbing reality TV Shows like the Real Housewives! I am also a major tabloid magazine junkie. I dislike: cooking, being put on the spot, waiting in lines, anything on the Syfy channel and anyone who wakes up my baby after just putting him down to sleep. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen is KISS and one concert I would love to go to before they disband again is Aerosmith.
Gene “The Bounty Hunter” – 2-7p
I was born a Coffey County Native near Burlington, Kansas, on November 3rd. I remember listening to rock radio stations on those warm summer nights as a teenager and thinking it would be cool to be one of those Jocks on the radio. Well… many years and many jobs passed until one night I got a telephone call and the voice on the other end said “You wanna be a Jock on 97.7 the DAWG?” The rest…. is history! In my previous life I wrote bail bonds and occasionally would have to do fugitive recovery, commonly known as being a bounty hunter, when some failed to realize the importance of making their court dates. Hence, my radio handle… “The Bounty Hunter”. I am married to a beautiful woman and have two Yorkies and a Poodle that dominate our household. Oh, by the way, I love rock and roll!
Cody – Night Host – 7p-Midnight
I have 2 dogs name Ernie Schottenheimer & Frank Okoye. I’ve climbed 20 of the largest mountains in the United States. I saw Joe Montana win a playoff game at Arrowhead and I saw George Brett inducted into Cooperstown. I also drink 8 glasses of water a day and have a good attitude. I also host the Sport Report on ESPN Radio 99.5 Mon-Fri from 5-6pm.
This is your Friday Night Football broadcast team, Jim Hills and Rick Smith. Jim begins his 12th season as “Voice of the Wildcats” with the play by play call. “I got a call from KSNP on a Tuesday morning asking me to work the first Friday night game of the 2003 season and 116 games later, you still find me in the booth on Friday nights.” Lots of listeners stop by his business, Burlington Auto Supply, on Saturday mornings to rehash the plays from the night before. Rick joined Jim as the color analyst after his son Corey graduated from BHS sports in 2009. A dentist by day in Gridley, Rick gets his Friday night football fix right here on 97.7. This pair pilots the DAWGMOBILE to all the games and enjoys a sampling of unique food and drink offerings wherever the schedule takes them.
Peg Downard – Marketing Consultant
I was born and raised in Hartford, Kansas. The only daughter of a farming man which made me the princess of the family! My girls are older now; it’s been fun watching them grow up, get married and start families of their own. I have 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren! I enjoy spending time with my family and just living life!
I started in the radio business 17 years ago and was hired as a tele-marker to sell small community packages. The very first day I sold several packages and my manager at the time said “Ok, you’re ready! Get out on the street” I was terrified! Fast forward 18 years – I’m still here and continue to help my clients build the successful business they’ve always dreamed of. I look forward to helping you! email@example.com
